Community Based Development

Daya Pertiwi Foundation Profile

Empowering People. Protecting Nature. Building Sustainable Futures.

For over 40 years, Daya Pertiwi Foundation (DPF) has proven that sustainable development starts at the grassroots. Through Community-Based Development, we design and implement projects together with local people, aligning with their unique ecosystem, culture, and economy.

Our approach ensures that communities are not just beneficiaries - they are the leaders and owners of change.

Our Focus Areas

Each project is tailored to local needs and potential, while contributing to SDGs, climate resilience, and zero-emission green business:

Sustainable Forestry & Land Use

Community forests, agroforestry, reforestation, and climate-smart land management.

 Water & Clean Energy

Solar-powered water systems, underground reservoirs (cubang), and water purification for drought-prone areas.

 Women & Men  Empowerment
Strengthening women's cooperatives, youth entrepreneurs, and gender-responsive livelihoods.

 Agro-based Enterprises
Local products (fruits, nuts, herbs, coffee, cocoa) processed into market-ready, export-quality goods.

 Culture, Tourism & Creative Economy
Eco-based community tourism, local crafts, and cultural heritage that increase visitor stay and community income.

 Livelihoods & Food Security
Green animal husbandry, food crops, and resilient farming practices.

How We Work

  1. Participatory Planning - communities, local government, private sector, and donors collaborate.
  2. Ecosystem & Market Studies- every project starts with solid data on nature, livelihoods, and business opportunities.
  3. Pure Grants or Blended Finance Ecosystem - combining grants, investments, and local contributions for sustainability.
  4. Capacity Building - training, mentoring, and continuous support for local groups.
  5. Exit to Autonomy - once strong, communities manage businesses independently (as seen in East Java, Nusa, Papua and other areas).

Our Track Record

  • 1,000+ self-help groups (KSM) established in Java, Bali, NTT, Papua, South Sumatra.
  • National Energy Globe Awards (2016 & 2022) for forestry & water innovations.
  • Community and or Village-owned enterprises like PT Putra Nemangkawi Utama in Papua and in  some others area, now fully independent.
  • Hundreds of micro, small, and medium businesses thriving with DPF facilitation.
