Daya Pertiwi Foundation Profile

The Daya Pertiwi Foundation (DPF), originally established in 1977 as Dewi Sri Foundation (YDS), is dedicated to supporting Indonesia's socio-economic development, with a specific focus on agriculture. In 1983, the foundation transitioned to DPF to adopt a more integrated approach. Initially governed by a management board, DPF has since garnered support from the Daya Pertiwi Businesses Group and various international development agencies. DPF's primary mission is to assist small farmers, farm workers, landless farmers, and entrepreneurs in Indonesia. The foundation provides development services to individuals from both the private and public sectors, including small farmers, farm workers, entrepreneurs, investors, and field instructors.

DPF is committed to protecting and restoring natural ecosystems, promoting socio-economic development, reducing inequality, fostering a green economy, conserving the environment, and adapting to and mitigating climate change. For over 40 years, DPF has been at the forefront of rural development efforts in Indonesia. The foundation has established community-based organizations, implemented forestry initiatives, provided water for irrigation and drinking, constructed homes for the homeless, rehabilitated and conserved land, engaged in agriculture and livestock activities, and preserved biodiversity.

Moving forward, DPF plans to concentrate on developing farms and enterprises, preserving the environment, and promoting sustainable and renewable energy sources to bolster Indonesia's green economy and address its employment challenges. This approach seeks to promote equity and rectify historical neglect in various regions. However, the looming threat of extreme climate change poses a significant obstacle to these endeavours, underscoring the critical importance of nature- and ecosystem-based development strategies.

DPF further seeks to develop and expand the increased acceptance of the key role of biodiversity conservation, nature-based development, and ecosystems as part of an overall development application strategy to maintain and enhance resilience and reduce the vulnerability of ecosystems and human life in the face of adverse impacts of climate change extremely.
